It's not the baby yet, it is still too small. With my first baby, I didn't feel anything (well, I didn't recognize what it was anyway), until about 18 weeks along. With all my others (3), I could feel them from about 12 weeks along.
Generally, a baby can be felt anywhere from about week 12 to well into the 20's, everyone is different. A heavy woman might feel it later and a very thin woman may feel it sooner. With a first baby, your abdominal muscles are tighter, so most first moms don't feel until btwn 18-22 weeks along.
Good luck and enjoy this time!

I have had 5 children so far and hoping for more. The OB always told me that the cramps were from the uterus stretching making room for your little bundle of joy. When the baby moves around 16-24 weeks you will feel like you have just swallowed a gold fish. If the cramps get to feeling like a UTI then insist on an ultrasound ASAP. on my third pregnancy I had the UTI feeling and went to the hospital for an ultrasound, instead of an UTI they found TWINS. The Ob said the intense cramping was the two kiddos growing.

You are all wrong! If you are expecting your first baby you can expect to feel your baby for the first time between 18 and 24 weeks gestation.
At 5 weeks the thing doesn't even have a heartbeat.

I was thinking.... Maybe it is the baby moving, but since it's so small it's the development you're feeling. I'm feeling the same "twinges" too and i'm 6 weeks. The cramping, as long as it's minor is normal though

It is definetly not your baby! Your little bundle of joy is more like the size of a sesame seed right now.The uterus is a big muscle and what you feel are similar to muscle spasms(i get them too, also 5 weeks along). You should start to feel the baby anywhere between 12-14 weeks.Congrats on your pregnancy!!!

At 5 weeks you really cant feel the baby at all, what you could be feeling is just everything rearranging and making room and stretching out, Its normal to feel some twinges now and then but if you see any blood call your doctor asap.

I really don't thnk you can feel the baby at five weeks, but at the early stages of pregnancy there is however a lot of gas etc.
But don't worry you'll feel the baby soon, because I swear the weeks seem to fly by....Good luck!

The fluttery feeling is normal. It's just your womb preparing for what's ahead. I had it with both my pregnancies. I'd ask your OB/GYN about the minor cramp. I don't recall that happening to me; could be normal but it's best to check it out.
BTW - Congratulations!

Seriously, get to the doctors office and discuss it with him/her. Especially about the cramp in your right side. It could be an ectopic(fetus in your tube instead of uterus) pregnancy. I am not a doctor so I can't say for sure but when your pregnant you don't want to take chances. You ,as well as your child, can be in danger and that's the last thing you want. So see your doctor A.S.A.P..
