You don't sound (from your question) like you are experienced vegetarians.
First of all, your little one may have an iron deficiency. You need to put him on a vegetarian formula pediatrics vitamin with iron in it. The iron intake will increase his appetite.
Secondly, you need to expand his diet with more protein. My kids don't chow down on meat either but we feed them plenty of soy based products (like Morning Star crumble). You can add it pasta sauces and casseroles just like you would with meat. They love it.
You can't just not feed children meat. They need protein and iron to grow or you are going to end up making them sick.
You need to see and dietitian immediately. And I would recommend a trip to your pediatricians as well. The dietary needs of children and adults are different and quite frankly, you don't sound like you know what you are doing.

If he is otherwise healthy, trying letting him choose what he would like to eat from some preset choices. He may not be able to sustain a vegan diet at his age, some cant.Supplement it with a childrens vitamin. In a couple of weeks to months, wean him back to that if you prefer, but for the time being, until his "pickiness" subsides, this may be best. This is what we were told to do, and it seemed to work!

I have a 20 month old daughter. She is doing the same. They are teething in the back and don't like to eat much. Give them lots of fruit and cool stuff. They like cool things at this age they don't like meat. I make sure that she gets a lot of fruit drink and water. Don't to get dehydrated.

Sounds like he has a dairy intolerance??? I understand beans are high in protein - soya beans included.
Sometimes a lack of appetite may signal a hypoglycemic condition. You may want to check out www.hufa.org, the symptoms link, and see if any other symptoms apply. If so, then maybe suggest to the doctor to rule out a blood sugar imbalance.

We are vegetarians also and if he does like veggies or fruits you may need to talk to your doctor. Try egg whites my daughter loves them and she will not eat an egg yolk to save her life. Also when my girls were younger pedisure drinks really gave them the vitamins that they were missing from being so picky.

Well as long as he is eating I wouldn't be to worried babies and toddlers are generally picky sometimes you have to introduce the same food to them several times before they will even try it.If he is not eating anything tho just use your best judgment if you think you need to take him in go with that.

Make sure there is not a medical reason for not eating much. I have 2 kids and our Pediatrician said they will eat when they are hungry and not to worry about it unless they stop eating altogether.

Keep on trying, he will eat when he is hungry. He might be just going through a phase. If you think he's not getting enough nutrition give him a daily vitamin. Try ice cream.

I think you should definitely talk to the doctor. My daughter stopped wanting to eat for awhile, but would still drink, so I made her a lot of smoothies.
