Seneca Falls, NY between Syracuse and Rochester has cheap real estate but high taxes. I recently saw an ad for a 3 br 1 bath house, new aluminum siding and a fence for $19,900. You can buy a house on a credit card! I moved here from New Hampshire where my house has been on the market for a year and I can't sell it! I'm only asking $139,900.

Real Estate is doing fairly well in Central IL. You can buy a pretty nice house for in the mid $100,000's and a pretty fancy one for in the mid $200,000's. There is a lot of new construction here and I think house prices went up about 8% in the last year or so.

It's still completely out of control in Merced, CA, but slowing down quickly. We are buying a 3bd/2ba for $285,000 that was asking $350,000 in January.
