If it belonged to an actor,(which I'm curious to know how you know), the best thing to do would be to put an ad in Variety, or another biz rag. Otherwise, call up Actor's Equity and explain yourself. They might have some helpful suggestions.

This doesn't make any sense- or do you mean 'your relative' rather than his? If so, how do you know it was an actors? The RE was probably RB but the outside end of the B has worn off. Richard Burton perhaps?

Sorry this is a bit vague but i'm just getting the kids to bed in 5. I hope this helps.

"One ring to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them."
Are you sure the initials are not FB, Frodo Baggins or perhaps BB for old uncle Bilbo? They made thousands of those rings for Burger King as part of some promotion. No? Ok how about Richard (don't call me Dick) Burton, and the RE could refer to he and Elizabeth Taylor? Still no? OK maybe it was a ladies ring and after she got married her intials we RE? I give up.

YOu may try to pull up the census records around that time frame for the area that it was found in, then use the intials to go from there....how do you know for sure it belongs to a celebrity??
