I dont hear any sound. What's going on? I hooked it up right. I installed this on my other computer which was an athlon xp. I had to turn up the "line in" in volume control. On my athlon 64 geForce 6100 gpu, however, there is no "line in" in volume control. Anyone know how to fix this? Or do i need to buy a sound card?

When you go to Start-All Programs-Accessories-Entertainment-Volume Control it brings up the box with all the different volume levels for your computer. If it doesn't show a line in then you have to go to Options (in the volume control box) and then Properties there you will see a list make sure that there is check in the box next to line in. That should bring up the line in volume control for you. Also just double check the cable from the sound card to the tuner card.

There's no volume control on your GRAPHICS card...this is normal. Unless this was a DIY (home-built) system, I doubt if you are without an audio processor. To be sure, go to your Control Panel (PC only), and check under "Sound and Audio Devices" to be sure that you have a card and it's working properly.

Since you didn't mention which brand/model you bought, it's hard to advise...but most have an audio output of their own.

Try going to control panel-sounds & audio-volume tab-advance-play control-options-properties.

Then check the box for 'line in' to be listed under volume control.
I have XP pro so XP home may be alittle dofferent.

Microsoft virus magnet XP?
Can you go to Control Panel, and open the icon for Sound, and see if the thing works?

I usually just stick a LiveCDrom into a CD, reboot and hear sound on the start-up...

Get http://knopper.net/knoppix as it lets the sound start up when the computer does!
