The CORRECT answer is yes, despite what others have said above...according to recent research the THC in marijuana can cause infertility (low sperm count) in men, if consumed habitually, and can reduce sperm count even if done in small quantities. The part that's uncertain right now is whether the effect is reversible over time...some studies have shown improvement once the user quits and has stayed away from it for several months, but the recovery can be slow.

At the risk of sounding preachy here, marijuana is not only a gateway drug to worse things, it also is not the "pot" of the 60's anymore... modern cannabis can be (and generally is) laced with chemical enhancers to make it more addictive... recently seized stashes of it have been found to be laced with PCP, cocaine, and/or soaked in a formaldehyde based solution that enhances the "buzz" but can cause permanent brain damage, as well as infertility-in both men and women.

If you are thinking about a serious relationship with this guy involving having children, then you need to get him to stop smoking this stuff.

Hope this helped.

I remember reading up on this when I was ttc....and one thing that stands out in my memory is that MJ can cause genetic mix ups on the DNA in the sperm and can cause problems. Also, it takes so long for sperm to be produced to maturity, that even if the last time the person smoked up was months ago, it can still affect sperm now. It is an issue to be careful about.

No, I don't think so. Marijuana is not chemical drugs or something like that but yes, if he doped too much and didn't care much about healthy foods or fruits or even doesn't excercise then it would definitely harm his overall health to great extent including impotency issue as well. To avoid these adverse affect, he must stick to healthy food habits and some Vitamins at the same time and also excercise from time to time. Marijuanna is medicine if taken as limited dose but can be very harmful if too much.
