I find it so scary how many adults do not know the answer to this question. Of course you can get pregnant before you have your first period because you must ovulate before you can have a period. You have a period because you ovulated and the egg remained unfertilized. The reason you have a period is because your body is expelling the egg and the uterus lining - your body prepares for pregnancy before your period and your period is how your body rids you of that "preparation" not the other way around. Honestly woman please read up on this is you really don't know the facts.

So even if you haven't had a period yet you need to always use a condom not only to protect you from pregnancy but also STDs. You are young and in my opinion have no business have sex at this age. But if you do please make sure he always uses a condom.

EDIT - I can't believe someone would suggest your have a brain tumor because you don't have a period. I didn't get mine until I was 13 and I am just fine. It's not uncommon to not get it until you are 14. People need to stop answering questions when they don't have correct information. This is why this 13 year old doesn't realize she can get pregnant if she continues to have unprotected sex.

Theoretically, yes because ovulation causes your period, not the other way around. A woman ovulates 12-16 days before her period starts and the hormones released in that time frame are what causes her period to happen. You wouldn't have any warning that this was your month to start so if you happened to have sex at the right time, you could possibly get pregnant.

It's not very likely because it's a window of about 5 days of fertility out of what has so far been your whole life. And because many girls don't ovulate regularly until they've had their periods for a year or two.

But any unprotected sex could lead to pregnancy and/or disease, so even if you haven't started your period yet, you should be using condoms to protect yourself.

No you can't get pregnant if you have never had a period. The menstrual cycle is a sign that your body is ready to go through puberty and most likely ready to have a child. You can not get pregnant if you haven't had a period because you must ovulate (release an egg) every month in order to get pregnant. You will not ovulate until you start having a period.

13...really? shouldn't you be outside? on a bike or something, maybe swimming or running or playing with dolls, instead of trying to get knocked up? don't do it right now you prat, you have a loooong life ahead of you, and what's your kid going to think of you if you're 13 years older than them. what then?! huh! huh!
and if you DO get pregnant, ooooh, well you're in for a WORLD of pain woman. and yes, actually you can get pregnant before you have your first period, amazingly enough, the youngest ever mother is 9. freaking 9 years old. you trying to compete or something? straighten out your life, now, today, you have to get real. i know i sound like dr phil, and im not trying to freak you out (although you should be), but im just looking out for you. you want to do it? wait 5 years, until then enjoy life, not sex, life and love (again not sex, love).

Course you can. You could have been ovulating and about to have your first period when you fell pregnant. You shouldn't have been having sex at any kind of age anyway but get it checked out just incase, it won't go away on it's own if it so happens that you are.

yes, if you are soon to start, but if you aren't old enough to have your period you probably are way too young to have sex. i was a late bloomer and i started mine at 16. then i was 17 when i had sex. you must be careful....you could get pregnant but you could also get aids or any number of sexually transmitted diseases. you should be married or at least in a long term relationship with someone you love. don't waste your body on stupid boys who wont matter in the long run. you will regret it. have respect for yourself. and if someone forces you tell someone. good luck.

That's a really good question. My guess would have to say no. Which means your body is still too young to start releasing eggs and going through your monthly cycle to prepare your body for a baby. I would still be careful though because ANTYHING is possible.

Yes, you can get pregnant before you have your period, because you might be ready to start your period and you won't know it.

no. the period is " your bodies way of preparing for a baby" in other words, if you have your period, then it is possible for you to have a baby... if you havent had period, you prolly cant, but at 13 i wouldnt take any chance. dont have sex.
