Air-bags life is about 7-10 years max. per the manufacturers, so this could mean that a sensor inside or outside is getting corroded or losing its connectivity, check with dealer.

Could possibly some sort of sensor fault, but when a light flashes like that it usually means that part needs some attention from the dealer (or at least a qualified mechanic).... just found an article on flashing airbag warning lights via google, which suggests other possiblities:

It's essentially a website for Ford cars, but Ford & Mazda have worked together for quite a while, and most manuafacturer's get their airbag technology from the same source

Could be a bad squibb. Take it to the dealer and have them check it out just to be sure.

usually it is a bad connection...somewhere....try moving the seat all the way forward then all the way back...if it is the sensor under the seat, that will clear it.
