Why do you want the engine to look good? Unless you are showing it and its a bad *** engine you dont need a clean looking engine. The way you can keep it running good and the inside of it clean, you need to keep fresh clean oil in it. Change the oil at the appropriate times. Other than that, splash it through a huge mud hole and have you some fun. Oh, tie a rope to your truck and the other end of the rope to and old mattress, put a friend on the mattress, and ride through mud.

depending on truck model, you can go to jcwhitney.com and buy some nice header covers, air filters housings, valve covers etc to spiffy up your engine look. to keep it clean. wait untl the engine is completely cool and spray on some engine degreaser. this will remove the majority of the gunk and crap that piles on the engine. spray off with water and let it dry. should keep your engine relatively nice looking (most of the time)

the version between four wheel drive and 2wd is that four wheel drive has all 4 wheels putting skill to the pavement tochronic the vehicle(at the same time as activated). this ends up in a lot more effective acceptable traction, and that's an all-round more effective acceptable platform for iciness or offroad driving. also with the help of allotting the skill to all 4 wheels, it makes it harder for the truck to lose traction and spin tire. at the same time as it contains small vehicles, having 2wd signifies that the truck is rwd. once you've the rear wheels spinning on my own, they do no longer have a lot weight on properly of them and that's harder to discover traction in snow, ice, airborne dirt and dust, etc. that's reliable for driving round city, yet once you've the money you're a lot more effective acceptable off with four wheel drive. in words of a smaller truck, i could say your suited selection could be to discover an previous Chevy S-10 or Toyota Tacoma, absolutely seek for the four wheel drive version of each.

Don't spill any oil or other fluids on it. I've got a 10 year-old truck that still has a new looking engine.

Put it in the garage and cover it with a tarp. Throw away the keys.
Seriously, periodic steam cleaning will do it, if you want to spend the money. Otherwise, not much hope.

Have it done by a professional. If you try to do it yourself you take a chance on shorting out some rather complicated and expensive electronic components.
