This sounds gross....but it is an old "on the farm" remedy. This is probably something you don't have around the house either...I know I don't. But you may find this interesting....here goes....

Tobacco juice. Yes, that's right, tobacco juice! From chewing tobacco. It has something in it that absorbs the poison from insect bites....mosquitoes, fire ants, spiders. Wild right? well, my uncles....of whom chew tobacco...swear by it. Guess they are the only ones who would actually try out nasty tobacco juices. But, this is a very popular remedy in the south! Good luck!

The best itch cream/oinment/gel I've found is Benedryl anti-ich gel. Hydrocortisone oinment seems to work better than the cream. Putting something cold on it also helps. Calamine lotion has never done the trick for me.

Put deodorant or nail polish on it and let it soak in for a couple of seconds and it should stop. If you have them EVERYWHERE then take an oatmeal bath. Otherwise, if you dont mind spending money, go to a drug store and ask a pharmasist to direct you to something.

The making an x on the bit usually helps or if you've got an ice cube/ice pack just numb it for a minute or so. Chances are you'll forget about it.

take a benadryl by mouth.
then, put some windex on a cotton ball and dab at the bite. As long as it isn't near your eyes, of course.

Benadryl cream. You may have to reapply it after 10-15 minutes once or twice; especially if you are sensitive to them like I am.
