i already have the important stuff packed such as clothes, computer, supplies for class, appliances, giant foam finger, but what else should every college guy have?

Bring some books or magazines to keep you entertained int he down time during the beginning of the year. Depending what kind of area you will be in, bring some basic OTC drugs so you don't have to pay the jacked up prices in the campus bookstore. I never went to school w/o motrin, robitussin, sudafed, and benadryl. It's also astounding how many people forget band-aids.

If you have a roommate you might want to talk to him to see what he is bringing. That way there won't be duplicates of major things (i.e. microwave, fridge, t.v., telephone).
If you don't have a cell phone get one or get a calling card. Oh, and make sure that you have the things to take care of personal hygiene.

Judging by your screen name...are you going to UC Davis? If so, you need air freshener for the farm smells, a bike (and you need to register for a license there), sheets, and a beer hat.

A timer is quite handy so you can remember to go get your laundry out of the washer or dryer.

a hotpot and a sandwhich maker!
sandals for the shower
ipod/stereo
beanbag/papasan chair
closet organizers cause they are usually really small! or bed risers to put stuff underneath!
