I really really really hope not , not that dave and the torys are any better :(

I hope not, they've had their time in power, and they've buggered it up. To renounce the Tories because of the actions of a different Tory government decades ago is ludicrous, time and people change; so do political parties in accordance. I may not think Dave is a very good leader, but he's sure as hell better than Tony, and it isn't just the leader who's important, but the team they've got behind them too; I think the Tories as a whole are a better party.
Anyway, I think Thatcher was a very strong leader; unlike this government she didn't leave us in debt (and definitely not to the tune of £40 billion). Destroying the unions did not destroy the mining industry either, as many people seem to think, that happened for other reasons.

Would it be better of the Tories re-branded themselves 'New Conservatives'?

They will win the next election although whether they deserve to is another question. Neither of the other two parties have sound policies and the shadow of Thatcherism will haunt the Tories for years to come. Blair will be gone long before the election and it is most likely Gordon Brown is already planning his pre-election giveaways.

Yes they will. A lot of people answering here will soon change their minds and enthusiastically support Gordon Brown during the 'honeymoon period'. He'll be telling them to forget the past and promise them a new & brighter future. This will work and New Labour will be re-elected by a small minority of voters.

Do you want it to? You'd have to be a very sad, very naive person to want that. But hopefully it won't as even the silliest blockhead eventually turns. The unfortunate thing is that Doolally Dave and his bunch are running neck and neck with Labour in political stupidity. That leaves me with only one way to go and isn't towards the Liberals. Funnily enough I sincerely believe that more than a few voters will be going in the same direction.

Unfortunately most of the voters in the UK have very short memories when it comes to the ballot box.
Let's just hope they all remember what a mess this goverment has made of our country and next time vote for a realible party who will get this country back on it's feet again.

I hope not, I have had enough of them. They have totally ruined my country. I don't think the Cons are much better and the Lib Dems are yellow in more ways than one.

I think politics are appealing to the young people, with issues that matter like the environment
