Has this happened to anyone here? What did you do about it and how can I stop it? I had to uninstall it, and I really miss playing! Any help will be taken gladly.

Such helpfull people!! And to let you all know, I do know my husband looks at porn online. It's not like its a big secret between us or something. I don't mind.
As for the game, he says that if I had downloaded some modified Sims content that had a virus with it, that even if I uninstall the game and reinstall later, that the virus (or worm or whatever) can use our ISP address to identify us and attack again. That does sound like something likely, or am I the Typhoid Mary of the gaming world?

OKAY, Simple, and with no big words........
Not that the game itself has a virus, I have downloaded additional 3rd party game content. If I reinstall the game without the additional content, will I get another virus, or will it be okay?
My husband and I both look at porn, we find it amusing. The only time we have ever gotten a virus were from those downloads, or from P2P sites, such as limewire and Kazaa.

I don't think it's from your Sims 2 game. The only way it could be is if you downloaded custom content of sims2.com for your game. Although the virus couldn't have come from the game itself, it definitly could've come from something downloaded into the game. I have a friend whose computer slowed down because of the game (It's a highly advanced game and it's hard for a computer to process all the info.) That could be the problem. Good luck! Nobody should have to uninstall the sims!

Hi. Here's the CORRECT answer. The only way it could be the Sims game is if you downloaded the game from some source online and it had a virus that downloaded with it. If you bought the game new in the package from a store, then it's not the game.
Your virus is coming from another source...this will be proven the next time you get an attack.
I suggest getting a good quality antivirus program. I personally have Norton System Works, but there are several good ones out there. Install it, run a full system scan, and that will determine the source of your virus. Also, something to bear in mind is that you can be attacked by more than one virus. My Norton program tells me periodically that it has blocked worm intrusion attempts, etc. It's just part of being online. People try to infect other peoples' computers from time to time. That's why a dependable anti virus program is essential.
But I really highly doubt the Sims 2 game is the culprit, especially if it was a store-bought program. Get a good antivirus program, and reinstall the Sims. Then run a system scan and if there is a virus, be it in the game or somewhere else, it will find and eradicate it.
Do you think this is a subtle hint from hubby that you're spending too much time with the Sims and not enough with him? LOL
Hope this helped.

Incorrect the computer game cds go through a lot of testing before being released so they couldn't possibly have a virus, if they did then there would be major news on the internet about it. and once a cd has been written nothing elso can go on it not even a virus since the cd is closed. it is most probable that the viruses are got from the internet(IT IS THE ONLY PLACE I ever got one) also you could have downloaded something containing a trojan horse which isn't detected by the antivirus and firewall and it in turn downloads or creates(without your premition) the best thing to do is to get decent antivirus (norton...very expensive, or avg...some versions are free) to kill the trojan or to backup everything on the comp and format and reinstall the system then install a good antivirus before opening the backups. if you dont know how to format and reinstall the system or you have other Qs then you may contact me. through my profile. but the game is definatly not causing the viruses as far as I can see.

I have the Sims 2 too. Nothing really occur ed to me except many glitches in the game. Tell your husband it shouldn't be the game that caused the virus. Another thing is that you can get a virus blocker such as Norton Anti virus for $20.00 after mail in rebate. And then you can install the Sims 2 again. Hope I helped!

Unless you are playing the game online I don't see how that game would cause it. The name of the virus will come up depending on what the computer is doing. Do an active search on yahoo for the virus name and removal instructions and follow those.
Invest in a good spyware program, and tell your husband to grow up. A computer game does not cause a virus. An active internet connection does.

If your computer hasn't gotten the virus since the removal of the game there's nothing you can really do about the virus from the game, except to only scan for viruses after you're done playing the game (or obviously not to play it at all as you've done). I would suggest Zone Alarm or Norton AntiVirus, both work well and I believe they both have a firewall you can also install for your computer.

He's using you as a scapegoat because until you're download third party scripts for the game you can't get any virus'. Which means he's going to porn sites and doesn't want you on the computer. Reinstall you're game and check the history of your computer internet's history. Or download a program called spybot or any spyware protector. If not, go download a keylogger from downloads.com and see what sites he goes to in case he cleans out the history. But it's him, not you...so enjoy your game ~!

Sims 2 doesn't cause viruses or else the publisher and creater, EA games, would be sued and nobody would buy their game. You keep getting viruses from other sources such as downloading and running executable files. Make sure you have an up to date antivirus software and it should stop. Also, if your running adaware or spybot, those aren't viruses they are ads and bots that come from regularly surfing the web. I know, it sucks.

No way! Since you are not directly connected to the internet, it's not possible! The only way to get a virus is to log onto the internet, preferably a negative site. Either that or sims uploaded a virus onto all of their games and sent them out which is highly unlikely. People would be suing the company like crazy if it did happen.
Don't worry about it, and keep playing
