I guarantee you, this person will self destruct. Just wait it out and watch the carnage.

If everyone is feeling the same then it shouldnt take to long before he realizes that he has no authority. I would suggest that your boss maybe has a staff meeting and explains to everyone who instructions come from. Then she'll know its not from her. She should talk about being a teamplayer and maybe find some way to positively motivate this girl. She sounds like one of those people that just have low self esteem. Be the mature one and set a good example. Include her and make it look like you really want to be a team. If you don't think that any of this will help then maybe your manager should write her up for not being a team player. This is a procedure that will let her know that if she doesnt resolve the issues and it keeps happening its documented in case they want to terminate her.
Dont let some other persons bad attitude get in the way of your job. You can't let anyone have that much control over your life.

Do your job to the best of your ability and don't worry about this know it all. I'm certain that if he is as bad as you make him out to be that his supervisor is preparing a list of reasons that he is no longer required to attend for work. Employers have to ensure all the t's are crossed and i's dotted before doing any type of damage control and releasing an employee or they may find themselves with a wrongful conviction suit filed against them. So bide your time and this person will soon enough be history and then he'll be in the unemployment line and you'll still have a job that you love.

Your manager is an idiot.
If they allowed this chick to run the office with her bad attitude and demoralizing B.S., then perhaps they should grow up and try a different job, 'cause management isn't their gig.
Quit talking to the offensive little know it all, and quit talking about her. Do your best to work with her, and when that fails work around her. If everybody in your work atmosphere were to quit responding to her B.S., and go around her if need be, then your boss won't be forced to replace her with a much more offensive, demoralizing version of what you have now, that they will allow to run rampant.
The crappy colleague obviously feels empowered by treating others badly, get everybody to quit reacting to her insulting behavior. Silent treatment.
When she mouths off, say "Okay, so in order to get this done you'd like me too (insert her comment here) is that, right?"
Or try "Tell you what, why don't you come find me when you're less agitated, we'll talk about it then."
Good luck, but bad management is your problem I think.

Tell her to wise up or you are going to fill her in.
No seriously there is a famous historical saying,
Honi-Soit-Qui-Mal-Y-Pense. (Latin)
Evil to he to whom evil does.
Try treating her in the same way or ask her some questions that she could never answer, then, rub it in her face when she doesn't know followed by an explanation as to why you done it.
Some people are just like that and are not worth, giving up your job for. All of you should try ignoring her and giving her the cold shoulder then after a few days explain why you done it. She might realise then where she is going wrong.

It sounds like your colleague thinks that she has something to prove. She's attempting to gain status by not taking advice and being disrespectful. It will get her no where. As soon as she slips up, she will be fired. Your manager is probably planning it right now. Until that glorious day, don't talk to her, keep out of her way. She's not your responsibility, don't take it on.

Get together with "other staff" and have a talk with the manager-all of you. Tell him you'll all take the matter up to HR if he can't solve it.
You'll get action in a hurry because he doesn't want to look helpless.

When people like this are given the chance to continue their poor behavior because their coworkers quit, they'll NEVER change. Your best bet is to stand up for yourself when necessary and pick your battles. If your boss is unwilling to talk with her, then there's not much you can do within your own limited power.
