I love your question and explanation. If more people had your attitude we would all be better off. I am not racist. I am from the south. When the Klan tried to march through one of the little towns I lived in, and the police wouldn't stop them. The Blacks and Whites and Native Americans banded together and drove them out. We all got along fine and we didn't want their hatred there. Sorry to say the town isn't like that anymore. Meth has destroyed it. Your attitude is what I saw in that town a long time ago. God Bless You.

I have never known anyone who was truly not racist, to the core. Many people do not know what *real* racism is.
Think of it this way:
You can be a good person, and love every single person you come in contact with. Of course, every group will have its less-than-friendly members, but you still do everything you can to treat everyone fairly. At this point, you do not seem racist. However, you may believe that a pitbull is a bad breed of dog, only good as a guard dog. The practice of blaming the breed, known as breedism, is another form of racism.
I have also met people who claimed not to be racist, but then became uncomfortable around a Muslim woman wearing a hijab, wondering subconsciously, "Is she a terrorist?" It seems common that many people do their best not to be racist, but can not crush their subconscious feelings of racial judgment.

I am pro Darwinian... When one understands the theory of evolution and it's scientific inference, it becomes impossible to be racist.
Here is a scientific example of the stupidity of racism:
I live in the UK and am a white skinned European. I have a white neighbor. Scientists know through the study of genes, that I am very likely to have more genetic similarities, with a black man living in Africa than with my white neighbor. This by the way is also suggestive evidence, that all human life originated in Africa.
when studying genes, skin color is remarkably superficial, so superficial in fact, that it becomes impossible to be racist, from a scientific perspective.
From a personal perspective and putting the science to one side, Individuals should be judged by their character and not their skin color.
Also, Minority Rights is a racist term, concocted by governments, those governments conjure up a whole ream of bureaucratic laws to protect minorities. When one starts talking about protecting certain minorities, it is always at the expense of another set of individuals and it implies that one set of laws should apply to one group of people, but not the other... This is racist and undermines our common humanity.
The only rights that count, are individual rights. If the rights of individuals are protected, every ones rights are protected.

That last paragraph is very true and we should.
I know of the struggles of our ancestors but I acknowledge that we are different now days. I don't make people now pay for people then. Yes, we do have a basis for Racism but why do something that we want others to stop?
The cycle has to stop somewhere. The truth is that racism exist in a big way now but I figure as long as you're leaving me the hell alone, then we're cool. YOu can't get away with things now like they did back then.More whites stick up for blacks( not that we need them to) but it works for our advantage because black people act scared half of the time.
I'm happy that you got over your racism but please by no means forget what you saw or heard. Don't forget where you've come from; I haven't.

I am not a racist. I think each person is different and my friends are the the people I like, not based on race, religion or sex. I have had my race held against me for no good reason and I will never do that to someone! I agree with the Bible, we should love everyone!

Wow! BEAUTIFUL statement! There is nothing more awesome than seeing someone's heart be changed. No, I'm not racist. My dad was, so I was raised with it. The first part of my childhood was spent near Los Angeles, CA, so I went to school with a large black population, never saw 'them' as being different than me. My dad did, hated living there, we moved near Fresno, CA in an area that was mostly hispanic. He still hated it. He swore if I ever thought of marrying someone who was black, mexican, or oriental, he would disown me. He had been in the military, was stationed in Japan for a few years, and used that experience to hate all orientals. I did date a couple of boys that were hispanic, couldn't bring them to the house out of embarrassment. My family is Italian, and I used to get in my dad's face (we used to have heated arguments over this issue) and ask him how he would feel if someone hated us because we're Italian. Never got an answer. I lived in MS and AL for a few months each after my mom and dad divorced, and I LOVED MS, except for the racial tensions. This was in '88, and they STILL chose to segragate themselves in the morning waiting for the bell to ring, it was crazy. I had a lot of enemies because I made friends with a girl who happened to be black, and I thought it was stupid. The girl after about a month, stopped talking to me, I guess she was being pressured too, either that or she didn't want me getting in trouble. Really sad. I don't know why I'm not prejudiced, other than the fact that I saw it my whole life, and it just never made sense to me. I never understood how one race could be better then another. I judge people based on their character, not their color. That determines whether I will call someone a friend or not.

No, the Cultures & Croups section on Yahoo solutions does not characterize American society. and you're a stupid hypocrite. basically approximately all your questions are in regards to the way you're against racism, yet you're saying which you in hassle-free terms see Whites being racist. that's racist in it somewhat is very own top. cyber web racism isn't something like racism in genuine life. everyone with 0.5 a strategies is known with the adaptation. And united statesa. is a much greater proper united states of america then Canada.

I am not a racist, as I do not consider race (among other factors that a person has no control over) in deciding the worth of a person.
I need to see things those things that a person has control over (stupidity, rudeness, arrogance, belittlement) AND what that person has done to me directly.
But I do not engage in blanket indictments, instead judging each person on their own merits.

God Bless You!....I am a Christian and I agree with what you are saying....I was raised to respect everybody because we are all the same and not one of us is better than the other....We all put our pants on one leg at a time...I was born in Washington, D.C. and my best friend was black...(I am white)...We loved and respected each other and were inseparable as children, until my family moved away...Her name is Leah and I still think about her often and hope she is well...I miss her very much!
