I have a 1995 Mazda MPV, 4WD and one by one everything is quitting. The 'check engine' light is on, but 2 mechanics have told me that nothing is wrong and to ignore it. NOW, one by one, all the accessories are quitting. The rear AC is no longer working, the auto locks are no longer 'auto', etc, etc. Could my computer be going out, or what? Please advise, buying another car now is not in the budget - Help.

Firstly, never ignore a check light. It may mean little but why did the 'two mechanics' not fix it. Its no big deal on a Mazda. After ten years of zero maintenance I am not surprised to note that all sorts of things are beginning to fold.

Want a great way to get a free mechanical check? Offer the car for private sale. The tyre kickers will show you ALL the things that are wrong with your car.

Sounds like your computer or you've lost a ground wire in your electrical system. Be prepared to spend anywhere from $200-$1000 for this repair. Do yourself a favor and make sure a rebuilt or new computer is installed. Junkyard computers come with their own set of problems. If it's a ground wire there will be much labor involved in locating it. Which makes that repair expensive also.

You may want to check some of the fuses. As for the check engine light coming on by itself trust me if it's on there is a problem somewhere.

no, the computer is not going but the component are....I would not "nickel and dime" the van with repairs....as long as it starts and runs, keep going.
