that's a tough one. i think that if you can't financially care for your child and you are unmarried then you should give your baby up for adoption. i don't think it is fair that teens and women can keep having children and we have to pay for their daycare, food stamps, and for their moms to get free rent. this is my opinion and it would be a lot different if i was to have a child that i couldn't afford. i don't know if it is up to the government to tell people what they can and can't do with their child, but i don't think they should be allowed to have baby after baby that we have to pay for. there should be some limit to how many children they will pay for before they cut you off.

Yeah that whole custody of the state thing? Lets just throw more kids into the system, that will solve everything!
Get real, not all teens are bad mothers. My cousin had her daughter when she was 15 and is one of the best moms I know!
One of the reasons teen moms(and adult moms)"screw up their kids lives" is lack of family and community support.
I don't agree with this law, i though prejudice was pretty much illegal these days?
Don't get me wrong though, I don't think every teenage girl should run out a get pregnant, I would hit the fan if one of my daughters got pregnant young, but I wouldn't let anyone take that child away. It's a personal decision for everyone, including teenage girls, to make.
Don't forget,at lot of adults don't use protection and get pregnant too.

That seems like an extreme burden on the foster care system, which isn't working so well already. Or are they supposed to stay with their grandparents who allowed their own children to become another statistic. Now im not saying im for teen pregnancy and parenthood but perhaps we should educate our teens to protect themselves against stds and pregnancy. Offer more education to teen mothers so they have the tools to support their children or make decisions to make sure their kids can be taken care of. Same people who came up with that law probably came up with abstinence only education.

I feel that you are just rude and out of place...So what you are basically saying is all adults are responsible and no teens are...I completely disagree with that...hmm... so you are sitting here telling the world that all adults are emotionally and fianacially stable...well look around...let reality kick in...I know many teens that have grown so much just to better themselves for their child...and i also know so many adult mothers that just werent ready to take on the responsiblities of parenthood...so theres so many pros and cons but you as one person...can not change the government views..because if that was the case welfare and all them programs wouldnt be around to help no only teens but older parents...so please dont add to all the ignorance and enjoy your life and dont worry about how others are living theirs...

If you have children then I don't see how you could feel this way would you want your grandchild to be a ward of the state??? If so then I'm glad I didn't have a parent like you. Don't get me wrong i think our teens should be better educated when it comes to facing the consequences of having sex but we can't take their rights away.

no i dont agree with the state taking them away from the mother. i'm sure the mother has family to help her out. and mayber the family would like to have custody of the baby. i dont agree with u bitchy. and why do people think you have to be married to have children. no you dont. some relationships fail after they get married. so stop saying dont have children until your married cuz thats bull ****.

Actually, the whole point of this country was to GRANT rights...not take them away. But you try getting our current government to listen to that.

I agree. Then it can probably die down teen pregnancy altogether. That would be so awesome.
