Definitely Andrea Pirlo, he plays with his heart and soul.

Pirlo is the first choice taker of corner and free kicks. In the 2005-2006 season Pirlo scored four times from free-kicks, matching the previous record (three times by Demetrio Albertini and one by Frank Rijkaard).

"Man of the Match" awards

July 9, Italy - France (Final)
July 4, Germany - Italy (Semi- Final)
June 12, Italy - Ghana (First Round)

Pirlo's fine form in Germany earned him the Bronze Ball, as he was voted the third best player of the tournament behind Zinedine Zidane and Fabio Cannavaro.
For Italy, Pirlo played at the 2000 Summer Olympics, won the bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics, played at the Euro 2004, and won the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Andrea Pirlo, even though Totti is my favourite player. He was named Man of the Match three times in the tournament, had three assists (which were all very memorable), and he was very near to scoring some of the free kicks he took.

Fabio Cannavaro was also a wonderful player, though, it would be hard to decide which had the best performance when he saved Italy many times through defensive maneuvers.

Andrea Pirlo, he was fantastic. He plays with so much energy and enthusiasm, and he has much skill. He is also a very clever player that can pull off terrific moves, just the type of midfielder you want on your team. He definitely had the best performance along with Cannavaro, who is a great defender.
