Verizon Wireless, by far. I've had Sprint, Cingular and Verizon, and Verizon is not only the carrier with the best reception and virtually no dropped calls, but it also has the most intelligent and helpful customer service reps. I've never had a bill higher than I expected it to be, and when there's an issue I can expect it to be resolved almost immediately, and with one phone call. Don't go experimenting with other carriers, because you'll be disappointed. Verizon is easily the best choice. Also, if you do go with Verizon, I have the LG VX8300 and it's a great phone. Awesome features and all the bells and whistles.

Verizon has the highest (unique) area coverage vs. Cingular has the highest (overlapping) area coverage (after merging with at&t). So, I would go with Verizon if I wanted coverage in most places, and high speed internet on the go... I would go with cingular if I wanted overseas coverage.

It depends on where you are. Verizon has fair coverage all over the U.S. but they don't go outside this country. If you want a really good answer I think you need to give us more details.
Don't get Vonage. T-Mobile is good in most places (not Wyoming)
