my mom told me before i went and saw Lady in the Water that it wasn't a good idea to see it cuz the critics didn't like it.

i told her i didn't care what they said cuz its directed by my favorite directors M. Night Shyamalan.

but why do people listen to these critics? shouldn't they just buy,see and read what they want? and not care what people say?

Yes, they should, but when you're spending A LOT of money to go to the movies, many people want to be better informed. If you love a certain actor or director, you'll probably see the movie regardless.

Most people are like that it all started with a show called Consumer Reports back in the 80's then the Movie Critics Shows started some people just need others opinions about how they should feel take this site for example.

I dont imagine critics are necessary in any respect. each man or woman has a distinct humorousness, like distinct action images, and prefer sorts of action pictures. I dont see how one man or woman saying the action picture replaced into reliable or no longer could impact if we see the action picture. i'm into dumb humor and not one of the critics are so each action picture with it truly is ranked low. It merely about works that if critics like the flicks, i dont see them and in the adventure that they hate it, i bypass watch it and prefer it. like the award shows, maximum folk havent even considered a large type of the flicks. I listen all of it the time and sweetness what the flicks are even about. So, no i dont imagine critics are powerful.
