Despite being professional athletes and idols and what ever else, these people are human first. Things occur that are untimely or regrettable, that is human nature at work. They have both apologised for their actions and it should be left at that. He had a brilliant career that inspired many, young and old alike and that incident will not diminish his grace, skill, talent or contribution to football. In general, people do not turn their backs on legends and hero's so I think for those that look at the incident as being Zizous claim to fame, will in time calm down and recognise him for the player he was, his achievements in football and what he brought to the game itself. It takes a great player and a great man to have the International devotion and loyalty that he does. In 12 months people will talk about his footballing ability not his headbutt and that is how it should be.

YES!! Of course he should be forgiven, if that's what you meant to ask. I grew up watching Zidane play, he is a legend. In France, he has the status of a god! They never thought he did anything wrong in the first place. That incident that occured during the final was very unfortunate, and I am very sad for him that he ended his career on that note. I was hoping he would end it with glory. But what he did was human, not wrong. He was provoked and got angry, how many of us haven't felt angry before? He just snapped out there on the pitch, I wish he had waited until after the match, after he had lifted the trophy for France and revelled in all the glory of France's second title, but sadly, luck was not on France's side. But I do not blame him for what he did. It was only a reaction, and scumbag Materazzi asked for it with whatever rude insult he made about Zidane's mother and sister. Zidane is a legend, and legends never die, I think they should build a statue of him in France!

Of course he should and has been forgiven. People say he cost them the World Cup; I don't think he did. Trezeguet ended up missing a PK, which ultimately did Les Blues in.

In any case, the football/soccer/calcio world should be thanking Zizou because his headbutt heard 'round the world made Americans take notice. Of all the excitement and surprises the WC had, the headbutt is what it took for Americans to pay attention- ESPN was still talking about it up until Zizou and Materazzi's sentences were handed down.

Besides, if Zizou never rammed Materazzi, then the great, catchy song 'Coup de Boule' never would be!

Do you mean Zizou should ask that loud, foulmouthed excuse for a human being, well I think if you believe that, you really do need help, so far as I am concerned Zizou did nothing wrong at all. OK maybe another place, another time, would have been better, but can you honestly say you would have acted any different, if some lowlife had insulted your seriously ill mother. I know my action`s would have been exactly the same. My answer is NO, just in case you did`nt understand my Answer.

I guess you mean forgiving; Yes, what he did was wrong, but he's human and any of us can go off the deep end every now and then. He should be measured by the totality of his career, which was extraordinary. Put a period and move on.
