It doesn't take any athletic ability to play baseball? Your way off!!! I find you ingnorant. To say that baseball doesn't take any athletic ability is just arrogant. One game may not take the stamina as some other sports do but how much stamina does a quarterback need to drop back and throw? Not any more than a baseball player.
The hardest thing to do in sports is hit a baseball. A baseball player is considered great if he hits .350, that means he fails to get a hit 65% of the time. If you fail in other sports 65% of the time you just suck, and that means hitting a ball is difficult. It is difficult for many reasons:
1: You have to hit a round ball with a round bat. It takes extreme athletic ability and hand eye coordination to be able to hit it without popping it up or into the ground.
2: Not only do you have to hit the round ball with the round bat but you have only tenths of a second to do it. A pitch traveling at 85 mph gets to the plate in .485 seconds (.485 is correct do the math). In that .48 seconds you have to decide whether to swing or not and then if you decide you have to complete your swing and make solid contact.
3: Now the pitcher comes into play. Its hard enough to hit an 85 mph pitch but then you have to do it while the pitcher is trying to make you miss. He can make it curve, slide, knuckle or just flat out drop out of a bucket. So you have to hit a round ball that is moving not only at you but to the left or right or down, with your round bat.
Also what about all the amazing diving acrobatic plays that players make in the field?
Way to make yourself look like a ignorant moron with a stupid question like you just asked. Oh and by the way . . . don't hold it against the rest of us with enough athletic ability to play baseball just because you were cut from little league at 9 years old.

True that the players play 180 games and play 6 games a week (more if it's a double header). But do you see other sports having rain delays? NO! They play it no matter what.
How active is the player when he has to wait for 8 other guys to before he can bat? And what is up with the DH? He doesn't even play defense. If he is K'out every at bat, he doesn't even get on the field.
My man, I could be here all day bringing your sport down. I have respect for the sport to an extent. But I would put Footbal, Basketball, Soccer, Hockey, GOLF (I hate golf) before baseball.

Baseball is tougher than it looks. Most games are played outside in the middle of the summer humidity, only a few domed stadiums left. Every team is guaranteed to play 162 games, that's a ton of games, and those that make it to the playoffs play even more. Even "bigger" players like Prince Fielder, Matt LeCroy, are in pretty darn good shape to play a season like this and have success. Baseball is very difficult on players. I know people don't have to run up and down the court and field all the time, but still, its hot as hell outside, and they have to do it 162 times a season.

Yeah I suppose running from first to home full speed does not take some athletic ability. How about diving and making a spectacular catch in the outfield or leaping at the fence to rob someone of a homer? How about the diving stops by infielders and accurate throws to the bases? The skill and coordination it takes to hit a 95 mph fastball at your knees. How about the amzing acrobatic ability middle infielders have in turning the double play or the collisions at home plate? As I have clearly just pointed out, you have no real understanding and knowledge of the game. Are you just trying to insult people's intelligence?

Did you have a question, or are you just waiting for people to declare how brilliant you are and dismantle the entire professional baseball system?
