I believe in the beginning, before you were born you were given a choice of different lives, which you could live. Each person was given a different number, and given a preview of each life they could choose.

In all, there would be heartache and pain, but also joy and love, you choose which you wanted though! In each there was a different sexual orientation perhaps, now if you had been given two choices only...

One be straight, but abused by those you loved, and the other be gay and only hurt by those that refused to understand...

Which would you chose?

After making the choice it is forever, you cannot change it, thus it also you are born gay too!

Nope, Gay is how I was born. God made me this way, and God doesn't make junk! Who am I to question any of God's gifts?

In a just and understanding world, your "celestial lottery" would offer the most appropriate choice - to be who you are, and accepted for that, without bigotry, discrimination or criticism.

Interesting question. I believe true homosexuality is not a choice, just as being heterosexual is not a choice. One day science will find the answer. As for not being understood because one is gay, everybody has obstacles in their lives that they must over come. I have many straight friends and some are miserable. My life is not a sentence to hell and persecution because I'm gay. You can be a homosexual and not be a mess; the two don't go hand in hand. I've had a really good life so far. I think it depends on how you, the person, deal with what life offers you. I'm not saying that I have not made mistakes or have not had challenges in my life - I have. You can fall apart and be pissed at the world or change your mind, set some goals, and decide that you are in charge of you. If some don't like you because you are gay, who cares, it's their loss, they must be really small minded...move on. If you're a good person then you are. And if you happen to be gay then you are - it is possible to be gay and a good person - I know because I live it.

Given that I lost my family over my sexuality, and suffered a decade long depression in my attempts to supress who I am I would find it difficult to believe that it was a 'choice' that I made.

I was created gay for a reason, be it genetic, spiritual or otherwise, and I only found happiness within myself when I accepted who I truly am.

In the situation you describe, were it to happen, I would choose to be gay, as it is easier to handle the resentment and bigotry of people you do not know than to suffer villification and abuse by those you love.

Interesting way of thinking. Quite honestly, would you choose to be ostracized from almost every "organized" religion, beaten by people who fear/hate/misunderstand, risk losing your job, home, family, and life for a choice? Or would you accept that you were born to be homosexual, and there's really nothing you can do about it, other than deny yourself or deny others?

I don't think BEING gay is the choice. I believe that ACTING ON THAT DESIRE is the choice.

So you believe that being a homosexual is a choice like i wake up one morning and say"ooh i wanna wear me bestest jeans me nice new shirt and be a puff"

get a grip (and i don't mean down there)

How can you choose to be a hated minority?

Why would you choose to be in a sexuality where its illegal to love someone?

Why would you choose to be in a sexuality where you are hated so much that there are people in this world who would happily KILL YOU, for who you choose to love?

And to choose a life that's been an struggle to get equal rights and not to be viewed and second class citizens who live in a "pretend" relationship.

You find me one person who would choose to have all of this.

If I had the choice to NOT be gay I would still choose to be gay. I would not have found my parnter otherwise. However, seeing as how I do NOT look at being gay as a choice....I don't really care what others think.

If being gay is a choice, then I guess you CHOOSE to be straight as well. Its rediculous, some of us are born gay, some are born straight. Its all quite natural.

You are reading too many poorly written fairy tales. There is no choice, no preference, you are what you are and you can't do a thing about it. You may chose how you live your life, i.e. remain celibate, be active etc., but you cannot (even if you wished) change it. Got it? Now please, get out and about, start meeting people and start to enjoy your life!

Your religious veiws are your own. I'm proud that I'm a transsexual and a lesbian. One question though. People decome who they are partially through the experiences they have. If we've had no experiences and are thus a "blank slate," then how would anyone make a decision without any human experience with which to weigh their options?

You remember making your choice on this before you were born, do you? You have a phenomenal memory in that case.

My mystical pre-birth number seems to have been 69, you'll be interested to know. What was yours?
