I think that Croce would still be performing and would have maintained a certain level of popularity, but I honestly don't think it would have been as high as it was just following his death in 1973. It seems that sudden death to a performing artist usually results in people finally discovering that person's music and elevating them to a level of fame they probably wouldn't have enjoyed in life. Such was the case with Croce, who admittedly was popular, but was hardly the superstar he became following the plane crash.

I think, had they lived, that Croce and Harry Chapin both would have been on the level of, say, Jackson Browne in terms of a solid, dedicated fan base, but without the sales that would set the stores on fire. Just my thoughts - and I happen to love the music of both Croce and Chapin.

He was very active and very prolific in his time. And very sincere. I gotta believe he'd still be going strong. He probably wouldn't have a huge base, but they would be very, very loyal.
