I think Cincinnati is terrible: The Reds are in second place & there are empty seats everywhere...and the Been gals are usually terrible.
I think Louisville would be a great pro sports town...the minor league baseball team averages over 10,000 a game & U of L is always in the Top 4 teams in college basketball attendence. Lou. would also draw from Lexington, which also draws over 8,000 per game for its A baseball team and is a college sports crazy town

NYC, Boston, Chicago are great large cities. I would say Cleveland, Nashville, STL, & Green Bay are best mid/ small cities. Indy does good in NBA, but has trouble selling out Colts...Generally seems like Western and Sunbelt cities are worst...especially in baseball

Louisville would be a better MLB town than NBA or NFL. It is the home of the Louisville Slugger and the world's largest bat (10 stories tall)

The best sports town to me right now is Detroit. The Tigers are doing great, the Pistons and Red Wings had outstanding years (playoffs notwithstanding) and there's excitement about the Lions.
The worst sports town is Los Angeles. The Lakers are overrated, the Kings have trouble winning, and where's the NFL? The only thing good going on is the Dodgers.

The best sport city would have to be Philadelphia. The reason I say this is because of the sports writers who have gotten their start writing for Philadelphia new papers. Jason Starks, Steven A. Smith, (both now with ESPN), Al Morganti (used to be ESPN hockey guy now works with Comcast), Ron Jawaski (ex-Eagles QB now with ESPN). These are but a few writers that have come from Philadelphia. The writer of the Novel “Friday Night Lights” also works for a Philadelphia paper. They have all 4 pro teams in the city no other City can match that, along with an indoor lacrosse, indoor soccer, Arena Football team, and a minor league Hockey team all within the city limits. Not to mention 6 major colleges Basketball programs (Temple, Villanova, Penn, LaSalle, St. Joe’s and Drexel), not to mention high talented high school sports. The worst I think is Dallas, I remember watching Cowboy’s Playoff games that weren’t sold out, I think that says a lot about the fans and the city.

The best sports city is probably Detroit. The Red Wings, Pistons, Lions, and Tigers have all sold out many games the past season. The Red Wings and Lions sell out every home game every season the past 5 years, the Pistons have like 120 consecutive sellouts, University of MIchigan located in a Detroit suburb has sold out every game the past 35 years, and the Tigers have sold out many games this season. Lions are horrible yet they keep selling out the stadium. There are many good college towns like Louisville, but people support college sports more than pro sports. Its cheaper, most of the time. The worst sports town would be Miami. No one goes to the Marlins games even though they are good, the Heat won the championship the past season yet they had trouble selling out games in the season and during the first two rounds of the playoffs. I've seen many Dolphins games in which they were not sold out either. Its a good market, I just dont think that many people are interested to go because there is so much to do there. Not so much to do in Detroit.

The three best in any order are probably Chicago, Boston and New York. The fans there are very excited for their teams and outwardly support them. A little ways behind those three would be Philadelphia.
A lot of cities where the population isn't as affluent (or in some cases as large) have difficulty supporting their teams unless they are winning. Some examples of this are Atlanta and Miami both known for fair weather fans.
Cities with only one major league sports franchise like Salt Lake City, San Antonio, Sacramento or Green Bay are also great sports towns since they thoroughly support their team.

Cities where a large percentage of the population are born, raised, and live the majority of their lives in are the best: Chicago, New York, Buffalo. Many of the fans live & die by whether or not their sports teams win. (pathetic but true). Cities with a large transient population are the worst: Atlanta, LA, San Diego. These people grew up rooting for a different team and are less likely to adopt the home team as their own. check out http://www.sportstop102day.com

Just because the Reds don't have sell-outs doesn't mean that Cincy is a terrible sports town... since you mention college basketball in terms of Louisville, what about XAVIER who sells out all its games and they are a great program?! University of Cincinnati has a lot of sell-outs too and even though I don't like their team they have a lot of fans as well. There are 2 college basketball team in Cincy, not just one, you weren't thinking clearly... The Bengals are a lot better now and are selling out as well... Louisville is not as good as Cincinnati in terms of sports towns...

Just from seeing the enthusiasts of the groups in the ones towns, listed below are my best five. Minneapolis-Saint Paul Here are the next groups, avid gamers and coaches they have got thrown below the bus. They've driven Dennis Green, Dino Ciccarelli, Flip Saunders, Randy Moss, John Randle, Alan Page, The Minneapolis Lakers, The Minnesota North Stars and close to the Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves below the bus. Fans additionally in no way exhibit up for the groups until they are successful. Minnesota is terrible for sporting events given that the enthusiasts there are fickle and conceited. The unhappy facet is, Minnesota has not anything to be conceited approximately. Oh yeah the media right here always attempts to throw the Vikings and Gophers below the bus through retaining this belief of getting Packer and Badger insurance policy on our nearby stations. Let Milwaukee and Madison do the Packer and Badger insurance policy. Philadelphia Booing Santa Claus says all of it. They additionally threw Charles Barkley, Alan Iverson, Randall Cunningham and Reggie White below the bus too. The enthusiasts are terrible to its groups. Northern Pac Northwest (Seattle, Vancouver, Tacoma) : Just like Minnesota, their enthusiasts are conceited and fairweather for no well cause, and their media offers 49er insurance policy, identical to Minnesota. Pac Northwest, get up! Your subject is not principal adequate to are living with out its sporting events groups like LA and Houston. Grunge is useless. Most folks don't seem to be into fancy espresso. You can handiest seek advice from the Space Needle so usually. Keep your sporting events groups. The Supersonics belong in Seattle. Arizona To be reasonable, folks from Arizona don't seem to be particularly from Arizona, and such a lot of the ones groups there are particularly there for folks to look at their favourite groups, to not be cheered for. Chicago They're relegated to cheering in opposition to the Vikings and Packers within the playoffs, their hockey staff is in shambles and Ben Wallace is rarely a marquee participant to place butts within the seats. Bulls tickets are low-priced. The Cubs are a well draw, however the equal are not able to be mentioned for his or her crosstown opponents. Oh good, the Packers choked, A.D. turns out overvalued, and Dollar Bill is useless. They can cheer for that no less than.

i would have to say Portland Oregon, they have 1 team, the blazers. I grew up in portland and i am still a blazers fan but most of the people who live there hate there own team and root for the dam lakerz. Good thing i dont live in portland anymore, all of the people there are fairweather fans and only root for the blazers when they are winning. They were in the playoffs for 20 straight years and the last few years they have not been and you see all of the fans abandoning ship.

I think the cities with the highest income /vs cost of living ratio will be the best sports teams.
You mentioned Cincinatti, which is considered to be one of the poorest cities in the US. Cleveland is there too. Just take a look at real estate prices and income rates.
