Because their ancestors learned English from ours.

I'm trying hard to defend them and chastise you for ignorance, but I just read (sweet coco)'s politically correct bullsh!t about what the flavor-of-the-week name is for Negroes. That , of course, has nothing to do with accents, but , typically, she can't stay on the subject.

What kind of question is this? That is a pretty predjudice generalization. And, since when have we been called "******"??? Hello... its 2006! Black, African American... whatever... but *****? No. Lets try being a little politically correct here.

And sorry A.Marie... YOU'RE WRONG! I could guarantee you that if you talked to me on the phone, you would have no idea what ethnicity I was. I have an education, and I know how to use correct grammar. Yes, I can bring out the slang when I want to. But, all black people do not talk funny. And I've heard plenty of other races, including white that sound exactly the same. The question, if not racist, it was definitely predjudice. And being that you are not of African American decent, there is NO WAY you can make that determination.

Same reason fore which desis speak 'funny'. Linguistically, the dialects of French and English from the Caribbean are the result of different african languages, indigenous words and the language of the colonists. The vocabulary is typical for a certain area. The african population in the United States may still contain some traces of phonetical particularities as well as a particular tone of voice. It has to do with the vocal cords. Soemtimes it is easy to make out if on the other side of the phone there is an african person, an Asian person or a desi, just because their voices sound different. There is nothing 'funny'about that.

First of all do you know the deffenition of a *****?
If you are wondering why different people/cultures talk funny then you should realize you might sound funny to someone outside your culture or "group of friends".

Just be aware that different people/cultures talk DIFFRERENT. One is not better that the other just different. Consider learning something from someone who is different than you. It will make you a better person and more well rounded!

I hope you discover an open mind...good luck!

before you start talking about someone's accent... first you need to update yours... who in the world says "*****" anymore??? what year were you born? 1918?? Its African American or Black American.. And don't even think about saying "colored" that is so slave master-ish. People talk according to the environment in which they are raised. Just as southerns, have a different tone of speech than people from the North or the West. Its just how you were assimilated into a region of culture.

I don't think this question is racist. Most of them do talk "different". (I wouldn't use the word funny)Usually with incorrect language. For example-Where you be going, or You is; instead of the correct form of Where are you going, or You are. It mostly depends on their learning environment and education. People who have accents, talk the same as the people they live around, the same with ******.

Why do SOME black people talk funny? Why do some white people talk funny? That's all a matter of opinion. I have a high sqeaky voice that evens annoys me. It's genetic. I inherited from my mother, along with my Will Smith ears. Don't generalize and don't be so judgemental. Let everyone speak with their own voice. Variety is the spice of life.

Uhhh . . . I would disagree with you . . . I'm a "*****". I don't talk like this . . . "Yeah Massa, need mo' pickin' the cot'on. I think I needs me a job." I don't know how long black people will have to continue trying to prove themselves to the world, but I can tell you this, you don't seem educated to me so you might want to pick up a book and go to school.

I don't see how this question is racist in any way what-so-ever, it's true, people of "african descent" have a different way of communication, just like people in New York have that funny accent, and people in the south have an accent, yet no matter what part of the country you're in, whenever you talk to a black/african american/***** 99% of the time you can tell just by talking to them over the phone you can tell what race they are!!! That's how it is!

Why are there so many racists on Yahoo Answers? I bet you wouldn't ask a "*****" that in real life would you?
