It would be easier to answer if we knew what the question was that your friend is asking.

If the person wants you to tell them it's OK to do something that you both know is wrong: be honest. Ditto if you think they're going to do something harmful to themselves or others.

Perhaps the best thing to do otherwise is to get them talking about whatever it is, and maybe help them figure out for themselves what they really want to do.

As I say, it's really hard to know, given I don't know the question. "Should I take revenge on this person?" is different from "Should I ask this person out?" and they're both different from "Should I become a doctor?", ....

You could say what you think, including the point about not being sure of the consequences, stressing that you'd hate to lead them wrong.

In the end, the decision is theirs, so you wouldn't be responsible.

advice is that ..just advisement.. not making a decision for someone.. the person receiving the advice is the ultimate person how to go forward..to decide which way they will progress. the person giving advice would never be the one who deals with the consequences.

Ask your friend what their options are. Then have them pick one and talk out what would happen if they chose that one. Do that with each option until the friend choses one of their own option over the others. Then there's no responsibility on you!!! They chose from their own choices!!!

I would ask him/her open ended questions and have them come to their own decision or guide them to a expert for their situation.
