how to play halflife 2 pc offline!!!!!!?

i have a though time trying to play this game and ive even bought 2 copies so please help?

Im pretty sure Half Life has two seperate shortcuts one Says Deathmatch... Pick the other one. It should not be hard to find... Check the Start Menu
