If your looking for something in BOSTON, I say the Northend. It is a great place and its always alive with residents and visitors coming to eat and sit in cafes. Its considered little Italy but the neighborhood is filled with variety. Walking distance to the train station and TD banknorth center and walking from the business district, and from Haymarket and Quincy Market center. The northend is a GREAT place to live and the people in the neighborhood are SO FRIENDLY. You will always have a place to meet friends in the cafes on Hanover street and lots of little moma and pops places to enjoy a meal.

Check out the NORTHEND! get you walking shoes out...This is where you want to be.

For access to south of Boston - Quincy is a good area, still close to Boston and has public transit, bars and stuff. And easier access to Bridgewater. Other areas close in to Boston: Somerville (close to Davis or Porter Squares), Allston-Brighton, Jamaica Plain, Cambridge, Brookline.

Local cities around the Boston area are great for young singles, like Cambridge or Somerville. If you'd like to be right in the city try Back Bay area or the North End. All are great places with tons to do.

Jamaica Plain, its near the train, shops, everything, its also diverse and mid-low cost living there. Hopefully you are single to really enjoy the nightlife. No need to live in an upscale area where everything is expensive when you first get there.....I've been there, and trust, there's not place better than there. Evryday and every night there's something to do.

Go to Cambridge

PS-I was born and raised in Detroit. Now live in NYC.
PPS-We love Boston too.
