What's the point in that War between Israel and Hezbollah? Are u also confused??

The more I research about this war to understand the motives in both sides...I still don't understand it. All I know is that 979 lebanese civilians are dead...and 100 Israelis...what a Difference!

Right now, I think Israel is trying to crush all hopes of provoking them. Yes, Hizbollah took 3 soldiers, but they could have just as easily been sprung out by the Mossad. Instead, by sending Lebanon into a tizzy, they blieve that by causing war weariness, Lebanon will comply with Israel's demands and overthrow hizbollah. Also, by crippling the infrastructure of Lebanon, Lebanon will not be able to mount an effective strike against Israel for the time being.

The reasoning behind it that is given to the public is, "They took 3 soldiers." But as you can see, Israel has already lost 20X times more than the origional cost. However, by throwing a war, Israel belives that it can crush any hope of attacking Israel again.

Israel is following with the idea that, if you harm one soldier, you will feel the weight of 100 tons of bricks. They want any terorrist organization/country/citizen to know that if they mess with Israel, the concequences are VERY dire.

Hizbollah hates Israel, plain and simple. Hizbollah kidnapped three israeli soldiers, I believe 2 corporals and 1 private, in order to initiate a trade with Israel of a bunch of detained Hizbollah members. However, though it may seem better if Israel did comply, they believe that it would only lead to more kidnappings.

Lebanon, for the most part, is just caught in the middle. Due to the fact that Hizbollah is a terrorist organization, Hizbollan members are commonly found in cities such as Beirut. Therefore, Lebanon civilian casulties are inevitable as rockets drop on them.

I think the most important point to make is that it isn't just about the soldiers that were recently kidnapped, that was just the last straw for Israel, Hezbollah is a large terrorist group that has been behind the suicide bombers(paying the families) and ultimately the deaths of thousands of Isreali civillians. Hezbollah is against Israel simply because it exists, a jewish state in the middle east.

This fight is nothing new, it has just reached a new level.

Isreal is fighting Hezbollah not Lebanon, and they are sending pamphlets to lebanese civillians within the war zones and telling them to evacuate.

I am 100% behind Israel, you can only put up wih a bully for so long, especially when the bully is killing civillians.

Hezbollah have been supporting suicide bombers for a long time, travelling to Israel to spread carnage, death and destruction indiscriminately. This current skirmish came from the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers. Israel have hit back hard, but also it seems indiscriminately, claiming that hezbollah are taking refuge among the civillian population (in other words, they don't know where they are?) Whatever the why's and issues, underlying is always the Palestine question. And Israel is solitary in a region that is arab muslim, pro palestinian.

Well a while ago the palastines gave the jews some land (Israel) it was scrubland. The jews went about irragating and turned it into good land. The palastines saw what the jews had done and decided they wanted the land back. The jews said no we spent years cultivating this land that you neglected and didn't want, you only want it back because we have made it such good land.

Since then the Jews and palastines have hated each other this war is just another in a very long conflict.

Hezzbulah killed and kidnapped Israeli soldiers unprovoked. Israel needed to defend itself and citizens, so they launched an attack on hezbullah to push them back into lebanon where they came from. Israel told the lebanese government to take care of the terrorists, but they refused, so Israel continues to move them back with the idea to eliminate them. Hezzbulah fires rockets into non-military targets inside of Israel without a lot of persicion. Israel is much better at using weapons and have connected on many more assaults.

Going by the number of dead is not the way to distinguish who is right or wrong. You failed to mention that Hezzbulah has launch thousands of more rockets than Israel has. Where is that in your research?

first i would reccommed some historical research. the 4 day war? israel is proving to the world that they are untouchable. in world war 2 more chinese people died. why do we not morn them? how large was israel in 1949 and how large is it now? i am certainly not anti semitic but they have killed women and children for forty years. areil sharon is suffering now? how do you think the woman whose womb he cut open on the streets of lebbanon felt when he was a general. if any other country in the world invaded another country what would happen. the jews tell america what to do, but look into it it will diguist you what the jewish community has done. try google and type save lebbanon you will see jewish children writing messages on bombs to the lebbonese people. The point is Israel is defending itself against unprovoked attacks by Hezbollah. NO, I am not confused.

Israel is a democratic country that desires a fair and just Peace in the Middle East. Hezbollah deliberately target missiles indicriminately against innocent Israeli civilian populations.

Hezbollah embed their missiles in the hearts of innocent Lebanese civilian populations.

The point is also with respect to Hexbollah's failure to comply with UN Resolution 1559.

Hezbollah are funded and armed by Iran a country with an appalling Human Rights record.

Case in point - a recent BBC documentary "Execution Of A Teenage Girl" about a 16 year old girl in Iran who was hanged for Crimes Against Chastity, after a forced confession, although she had been raped. This is apart from the fact that this VIOLATES the United Nations Convention on Human Rights for Children - that it is illegal to Execute Children, which Iran is a signatory to.

Judge Haji Reza'i, who was also the local mullah, prosecutor and head of the city administration, personally obtained permission from Iran's Supreme Court to execute her. He put the noose around her neck himself before she was hoisted on a crane jib arm to her death.

Just as shocking - but not surprising - was the fact that the local Morality Police who charged her also ran the local drinking hole and brothel.

PS Sharpmurray why are you so shocked? Not so sharp? Children, civilians and soldiers on both sides were writing messages on bombs in WW2. That is the nature of war. War is Hell. The double standard of behaviour by Anti-Zionists and Stop The War means Israel should be passive and accept hundreds of missiles raining down on them from Hezbollah.

Israel is on the offense cause their soldiers were abducted by Hezbollah, and Hezbollah abducted the soldiers as bargaining chip so that Israel would exchange the soldiers for the thousands of civilians who were abducted by Israel in suspension of being members of Hezbollah.
