Periods are not meant to be comfortable and it does take a while to feel like it's 'normal'. But you have to think about it and ask yourself what about it that makes you so embarassed. Are you scared it's going to leak? Or are you just not liking the 'wetness'? If so, I think changing your pads more often or using better, drier, or thinner ones will make you feel better because the fact that it's so dry will make you feel like you're not even having period.

If you're concerned with cramps, however, you can try taking Advil or relieve the pain or drink warm water.

Lastly, big heavy sweatshirts could only make it more obvious you are trying to hide something. Be discreet about it. Just wear dark color pants or skirts. Wearing skirts can actually help it feel dry because you are letting air circulate to the area. Just watch that your skirt isn't too short!

I hope you feel better, hun!

First of all you're not alone. I started having my period at 11 (that was 23 years ago) and it is an uncomfortable process someitmes and there are always a couple of days where I feel yucky and want to hide from the world.

All I can tell you is there's nothing to be embarassed about. By wearing large sweatshirts you are probably drawing attention to yourself more than anything.

There are some really good tampons and related products out there that can help you feel like you're barely having a period at all. You should try some of these maybe and experiment until you find something that really works for you.

I've included a link here to an aritcle about some new birth control pills that can actually limit the number of times in a year that you even have a period -- maybe this is an option for you:

All I can really tell you is as much as you might dislike it, there's nothing wrong with having a period. It does't make you different it make syou the same the as every woman out there and you having nothing to be embarassed about.

Its a process of life, be proud that you are maturing and dont look at it as a bad thing. This means you are now a young lady and you have to have more responsibility. and must know how to act accordingly.

The more you act differently on those days the more people will know you are on it. Try dressing like you would other days, avoid, whites, and actually skirts sometimes help, since you cant see the crotch.

be comfortobale, you are a women.

If you even have a sense of being "seen", are you wearing a big thick pad? Have you tried switching to tampons? You shouldn't even feel it in once you get used to it. Wear black or dark clothes so at least you're not worrying about stains showing - even though you probably won't stain through your clothes, you are probably worrying about it! Can you wear skirts? That will make you feel less like it is showing, too.

Well you have no reason to be embarresed, I have it too. You might not be the only one, maybe the other girls have their period but they're not talking about it either. Where balck pants, just in case. And if your afraid that your pads gonna slip, just remember that it will stay and it will stay cause its sticky.

ok... it sounds like your still pretty young... dont worry... it may be embarrassing now, but they will have their time and im sorry to say it but guys may never understand unless they grew up in an open family with lots of sisters or something.... they wont understand till they get married. it usually takes 2 to 21/2 years for you to regulate your periods... and dont freak out... you'll get used to how your body responds... bloating, cramping, breakouts... all normal... and dont be afraid to medicate. Mydol isnt just for mood swings... talk to your mom or an aunt or trusted female figure in your life and try and get a mydol for you. they have some targeted for pms, for bloating and cramping, for night time... everything really... but i promise... it'll all be worth it...

i'm 24 but i've been in your shoe's i used to keep my backpack all the way down to my butt because i was so self concious, to make yourself feel better wear jeans a lot because you can't see pads through them and dark colored pants, its not a big deal, nobody will notice as long as you have coverage down there
