ok i tried everything ... how do U dl a pic instead of the grey smile face box on this site?

Go into your Q&A section, in the upper right corner of the screen next to the search.
Underneath your "About" info you'll see "Public view of my profile" and "Edit my info". Click "Edit my info".
On this screen, the second row is "Picture". You'll see the grey smiley you have now, a sillouette of a person, and the last is about an avatar.
If you have a 360 account, you can use your own picture by clicking the sillouette. To make an avatar like I'm using, click under the third box where it says "create my avatar".
Once you finish making your new avatar, be sure to save or nothing will show up when you come back to Answers!

Click on your grey box. Part way down the page, you should see a blue link that says "Edit My Info" next to a link that says "Public View of my profile". Click on "Edit My Info". There, you click "Use my Yahoo! Avatar" and under that avatar, there is a link that says "Edit my avatar" where you can make it look the way you want it to. Good luck!!

Well, there are two options.

1) You go to 360, and upload your photos there. Then, you use it as your Yahoo! 360 picture, and then you can chose it on your Options page for Yahoo! Answers.

Or...

2) You can go to Yahoo! Avatars and crate an avatar that looks like you. Or that doesn't, depending on what you want to do with it.

Go to edit profile for an avarta for a pictue you have to join yahoo 360

I went to my yahoo email. On the FIRST screen is the same gray smiley. Double click that and you'll get to make a 'face'.

You can use your yahoo avatar. I have put mine there and I am sure you can download a pic from yahoo photos.

Just click your username, and go to edit.

go to Avatars.Yahoo.com and create an avatar for yourself!
