A friend of mine has a 96 corsica. We were simply trying to bleed his brakes and have run into a problem. We are able to bleed the front no problem, but the back we get nothing but air. We replaced the master cylinder which was clogged andit was no help. We disconnected the lines and entire system and blew it clean, STILL NOTHING. The cylinders are not seized or anything so we cant figure out why on earth we arent getting any fluid to come through. Any thougts?

Try this first before you give up all hope. You can gravity bleed the rear brakes, do this by taking the lid off of the master cylinder and put something to catch the fluid under each of the rear wheel cylinders. Now open both bleeder screws on each of the rear cylinders. Within 30 minutes to an hour the brake lines would be filled and dripping out of the rear cylinders. Make sure that you check the master regularly or you'll be starting over if it gets too low.

Check for a leak in the line to the back brakes, though you have blown them out it may be possible that the lines are worn to the point where they are allowing an air infiltration, change the lines. Also check the plunger of the master cylinder, or the actuator to the master cylinder, you may not be getting enough pressure to adjust both front and rear brakes. If fluid is not reaching the rear brakes then it is a pressure problem, or you have a vacuum lock in the line somewhere.

Try closing the front caliper bleeds and one of the rears and keep pumping the brakes, see if you get any fluid out. then if so, switch to the other rear and close the other side.

Try bleeding the master first, try to get all the air from that, then tackle the rear bleeders

You need to bleed these brakes in the correct order. I can't remember it exactly but i THINK its passenger rear, driver front then driver rear finally passenger front.

try rubbing alcohol ..it will eat thru any gunk in the lines, just make sure to flush it thru with brake fluid afterwards

Check your proportioning valve. Sounds like it's sticking.
