Let her sleep. Babies grow when they sleep. About 18-20 hours a day sleep is what they need. Some parents are 'luckier' than others and these sleeping intervals can vary from 30mins to a few hours at the time. As the baby gets older, it will sleep less and less and will want to learn more and more about its surroundings. In the meantime, use this time to rest, don't worry the baby will wake up when she gets hungry.

Babies at that age sleep A LOT....it seems like they wake up to be fed, diaper change, stay up for a lil bit, and then go back to bed....that's how babies are....no, they don't want to be awake at this age...
when they get older though, then they'll start to stay awake for a long time....my lil niece is 1 and she naps for about 4 hours in a day and sleeps for about 9-10 hours at night...other then that, she's up all the time....when she was as young as your child, i wished she would stay up so she can play, but now, i miss the days where she would be asleep a lot so I can get things done while I'm taking care of her....enjoy these days where the baby sleeps a lot, because soon, they'll be up a lot...

I know how you feel, you want your baby awake but they sleep about 20 hours in a 24 hour space. Why not go on babycenter website and they give you great advice on babies and their growth and what they will/might be going at each stage in their life. Good luck I hope the website will help you a little more.

They are all different but at 6 weeks if she is sleeping a lot, I say enjoy it while you can! You lucky thing!! Get rest now while you can. Babies like to change their routines just as you think you are getting used to it, so rest now ready for the times when she doesnt want to sleep at all!

Babies need about 20 hours sleep a day. Their little brains have so much to take in it wears them out. Make the most of it, it won't last.

It is normal. As long as she is getting fed enough times a day, then it is fine. You say that you entertain her a few times a day anyway. They sleep all the time.
