Since the general consensus among people thinking homosexulaity is a choice reason that homosexuals were sexually abused as children and then chose to be gay. I'm betting most people that are gay *weren't* sexually abused but hey, I'm science minded so I like to test my hypotheses just to be sure...

My first crush on a girl was when I was 5.....
When I was 6 my moms b/f (#1) stuck his tongue in my mouth for a 'good nite kiss'
When I was 12 I took my first girl to bed
When I was 13 my step granpa tried to grope me
When I was 18 my moms b/f (#3) tried to make out with me
When I was 22 moms #5 made a pass
By the time I was 34, I was in love with a woman
Now I'm 41, married to her and still very much in love

Was I abused? yea, sort of
Did it 'make' me a lesbian............HELL NO!

While some may have made that choice by being abused as children does not make it the norm.
As to the fact that "most people that are gay weren't sexually abused" I believe one would need to ask the gay society.
I don't believe abuse is the cause of people being gay, but it certainly could have contributed to it.
I don't know how anyone can "choose" to be gay. You either are or you aren't. If it is a choice lifestyle, then I would guess that person could more likely be bi.
I am not an expert in this field by any means. Just my thoughts.

I am gay and I was not sexually abused nor did I even hear of such a thing as homosexuality until well after I knew I was attracted to the same gender. Unfortunately so many people have been molested, by both males and females the odds are you will find gays and straights who might try to claim that molestation is a cause - but its just an unhappy coincidence - no more the cause of their sexual orientation than any other thing that happens to them after birth.

I was never sexually abused. Remember though that about 1/4th of all children are sexually abused by the male parent or a close male relative regardless of their sexuality, so expect some positives.

Also, a study is a bit more complicated than asking a question on Yahoo Answers. If you are serious about testing your hypothesis write me email -- I may be able to at least tell you appropriate protocols.

I was never sexually abused and I do not think that it is a 'general consensus' that sexual abuse is the cause for homosexuality. This line of thought is perpetuated by a small group of small minded people that cannot accept the fact that we are born this way because it does not fit into their view of how things should be.

Little girl, you have the most rotten idea of why a person becomes or is gay, and it is NOT because we were sexually abused as children. I am sure I had a childhood that you would only DREAM of, so let me assure you from personal experience that you are in the wrong side of the argument on this one.

I'm gay and never sexually abused. There are only about a small percent of gay people that were sexually abused. The same percent that straight people sexually abused.

I'm not naming names, half of my gay friends have been molested as a child, brutally raped, or assaulted sexually in some other way.
The other half of my Gay friends have not.

On the other side of the coin half of my straight friends have also been sexually abused or raped in some way.
The other half my straight friends have not.

To bring it home further: a pair of sisters - both raped and molested by thier father, they are two years apart in age.
One is Gay - the other is not.

Hope that helps.

no, it's not a choice. it's genetic. I was not abused, had straight parents, and knew no one gay until after I realized I was. this is not something learned or influenced upon someone. I know people both straight and gay who were abused. that doesn't affect sexual orientation as some ignorant people seem to think. just like those who think if gays/lesbians raising children "makes" them gay....everyone gay/lesbian I know was raised by straight parents!

I was not sexually abused. Other than some innocent childhood experimentation, I had no sexual contact until I was an adult. Nobody ever even suggested it.

I didn't meet another homosexual until I was 18.
