the release of the mind from the body

Art is a type of communication. Unlike prose and other simpler recording mechanisms, the point of art is usually to provoke an emotional response in the audience. Because emotional experiences are so varied and often in response to a variety of non-emotional physical datum, art itself is equally varied. Some is accessible, some obscure, and most art is of relative and subjective value, depending of course, on its specific evocative capability.

Most humans have an interest in art and often at least dabble in one or two forms of expression. Some people have a lot more to say in that context than others, and, as with any skill, most people can learn to produce art better with training and time. There is a general agreement on some types or works of art that are considered to be of particularly good quality, which also suggests that there are qualities possessed in art which are not entirely subjective, even if there are subjective elements.

Also, because most humans are constantly emotional, almost any material might be viewed as a form of art, depending only on its presentation, environment, and the audience. Thus you can see instances of 'junk art', 'performance art', and a number of other oddities.

If it takes your breath away, makes you wonder, dream or cry, offends you, angers you, frightens you, impassions you in any way, you are in the presence of art.

A piece of music that brings tears, the color of a sunset that stops you dead in your tracks, the feel of a cold piece of jade or marble sculpture against the palm of your hand, a string of words that bring home the truth to you in a way that nothing else has, all this is art.

The creator produces from within his or her very being, however, the artist is you, as it is your imagination that percieves , your heart that responds, and your soul that filters and retains the essence of what the creator has produced.

That answer will vary because each country has their own distinct type of art. For me, art is a verb, noun, and adjective. Its a technique that can be used to release one's inner emotions, emotions that cannot be expressed using words. Art is something very mysterious. It has color, form, shape, lines, and space that can be described over 1,000 words. Art is creativity. Something that is pleasing to the eye, something that creates humor, something that creates emotions, is art.

Like this (just happened to pop into my head):

I want to live where soul meets body
And let the sun wrap its arms around me
And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing
And feel, feel what its like to be new

Cause in my head there’s a greyhound station
Where I send my thoughts to far off destinations
So they may have a chance of finding a place
where they’re far more suited than here
(DCFC)

Expression thru music, writing, drawing that comes from the mind as sampled above.

The ability that one possesses that allows you to make from one thing, many things, or just simply something else. like tearing a piece of paper into a thousand pieces, and seeing a woman's body in the contours of a tree branch, and "seeing" flower and "remembering " seventh birthday on a spring morning, or michelangelo's releasing the sculpture from stone.
