Oh man, I am with you on the creepy dolls. I hate them. The worst ones are the really old dolls with the painted faces. I don't know why, but they just give me the heebie-jeebies something fierce. I also hate the dolls that have the eyes that close if you lay down the doll.
I used to work in an antique store, and the room I disliked the most was the toy room. All the other toys were cool, but the dolls were awful. They were on stands in a glass case, and I swear to god, they would glare at me whenever I came into the room. When I moved around the room, it was like their eyes were following me. I know it's crazy, but it was almost like the doll hated me because I could move around on my own. It was bizarre. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

I have a lot of porcelain dolls and some of them do have creepy little smiles on them.

I think it a question of personal taste. When they were made once century ago they were considered like art, because they were hand made by expert artisans.
It is the same way when you to see Middle Ages art, the pictures can be scary for us, but that was the way they used to be ten centuries ago and probably they were considered fine arts.

OH MY GOSH!!! ONLY THE CREEPIEST!!!
I have had three at my old house, and they are still there! They are so creepy, especially if they are wearing old fashioned clothes and whatnot. They just have that blank stare, like they are watching you....

I think some of them have creepy expressions on their faces.
Most of them are smarmy-looking, some of them are beautiful, some of them are cute, but some of them have peculiar off-putting looks on their faces.
