i did lots of research on them and I want a ball python, but I am afraid that it will bite me, I haven't done any research on what it's teeth/fangs/whatever are like, how many of you who have snakes particularly ball pythons have been bitten by them, how long are their teeth and how badly dose it hurt, that is the only thing that scares me about getting a snake,

I know I sound like a silly little kid who dosen't know anything, but I'm 16 and my mom said I could have one

how much do they usually cost and is there anything elce that I need to know

I do own one, a beautiful, 1 yr old, 4 ft female named, Serena. By nature, balls are non-aggressive. They do exactly what the name implies. So I have never been bitten by her. I even let her play with my 8 month old son.

I have only ever seen her teeth one time. That was when I took her to the vet for her initial check-up. While there are quite a few of them, they are very small. Other, more bitie python breeds have been compared to a needle prick, several at once actually.

Things to remember are to use a separate tank for feeding, even a cardboard box or plastic storage tote will do. DO NOT USE HEAT ROCKS. They will burn your snake. An exterior heat lamp is what you need. Also a set of temperature and humidity gages, a hiding rock, a water bowl to swim and soak in, and substrate. I highly recommend Cyprus. It holds moisture well to help with humidity, and will not promote molds or mildews that can kill your python.

I actually own a ball python and have been bit by my snake. The bite is not bad at all and when the weather is warmer they do tend to be a bit aggressive but overall are a great beginner snake.Maintenance is crucial to a healthy snake. I also own other reptiles such as Blue tongued skinks which are really neat. And to be totally honest I could so much handle the bite from the snake than the lizards. Cost you have to put in consideration the heating that needs to be on constantly. The overall heating is as much as 30-40 dollars a month feeding bill is about 10-20 a month depending on size. Bedding is another factor.but out of all my animals they are probably the most intriguing to me and I own a total of 13. By the way I am a veterinary technician which helps.

I've been bitten plenty of times. The large ones hurt if they hold on, but usually all of them will just tag you. You probably won't even realize you've been bit by a small Ball Python until you see the tiny drops of blood.

Their teeth aren't too big, and they're very thin. The biggest problem you might encounter is if you pull away and their teeth break off. Then you have to make sure they don't get an infection, but it's relatively common for them to break off in nature and you usually don't have to worry about it.

They can cost anywhere from $10 to $100 or more for a normal. I'd plan on spending between $50 and $75 for one. Pet stores are usually the worst place to get one as they usually sell captive hatched ones which means the eggs were collected in Africa, hatched over there and then shipped to the U.S. by the thousands. They usually have a lot of health problems and can be difficult to get to eat. Try to find a breeder near you that can sell you a healthy Captive Bred one that has already eaten a few times.

I've been bitten by so many things I've lost track... Tons of snakes. Most don't hurt, but my worst snake bite was actually from a ball python. It was full grown and angry and wrapped around my hand in a food response. That hurt a bit... bled a lot. But it wasn't used to being handled. If you get one small and work with it, they're the tamest snakes ever. A bite from a small one would be more of a shock than anything. Doesn't really hurt.

I've been tagged by my ball and by a few of my kings. Thier teeth are small and curve backwards. When balls bite in defense it is a quick bite and release, like a punch. I was tagged by a ball in Petco when I was looking them over, checking the sex and seeing if there were any mites or anything. I believe those particular ones were wild caught and imported then sold again to petco. My cali king bit me on mistake when I was feeding her. I had a fat mouse and was about to drop it in her tank when it swung up on to my wrist. SHe came out after it and she missed and hit my pinky intsead. No biggy, it healed in a day or two.

If you get a ball go to a reptile store in perticular and if it doesn't say captive breed it is most likely farm raised which means they got wild eggs and hatched them. So captive breed is more expensive beacuse they are healthier and are usually eating regualrly. A female would go for 100 for captive breed, males 75.

Write me if you have any questions, i'll gladly help.
