My client has a 3com 56k officeconnect modem. I can ping the unit and it works when trying to connect out to the internet. However when I try to access it remotely i.e from a browser on the same network via http://192.168.1.1 I get no page found (192.168.1.1 is the default gateway for teh network).

Why is this happening? - I need to be able to get in and change teh dial up access number as they have gone from 7 to 10 digit dialling.

ideas???

Office in a remote area - no high unless using satellite (Lots of $$$$). Their bandwidth needs are low.

There is no direct connect to this machine and teh manual wasn't much help.

Never worked with those, but have you tried just using 192.168.1.1 without the http:// or try using https://192.168.1.1?
Is there a way to connect directly (serial cable using hyperterminal?) when all else fails check the manual

An office is still using dial-up? Kind of hard to believe, especially if it is networked. Change it from the machine itself.
