Ok here's the short version: I'm going on vacation in a week, and about 2 months ago I asked a frined to go with me. She said that she wasn't sure, and a month later I still didn't have a definite answer and we hadn't seen each other for a while. So, I asked someone else to go who I'm really good friends with, and she said yes. Now the first girl says that she can go....how do I say no? I can only take one person. Help!!!!

Just explain to her that when you didn't get an answer, you assumed that she wasn't going and that you invited someone else. Tell her that it would have been really fun to go with her and that maybe she can go next time. If she is a real friend, she shouldn't get mad about it.

I believe that because you have invited someone else now she has decided to accept your invite on the hope you will still be taking her. If this other person had declined i feel as if this friend would still be holding on to her answer do i go or not so stick with your guns and just say sorry but you needed a answer but diddnt get one

Tell her that unfortunatly you would like her to go but because she did not rsvp with you ahead of time you assumed that she could not go and already invited someone else to go now. Tell her your sorry but she knew that you needed to know one way or the other.

The exact same thing happened to me!! I was just like, " I'm sorry, but you didn't seem interested. I figured you didn't really want to go, so I invited someone else. I'm really sorry this happened." We're still friends.

Tell her you couldn't make tentative plans because you had to book time off work/school, get hotels, make arrangement, etc., and because she wasn't able to commit, you asked someone else to go.

You can't put your life on hold waiting for others to decide what they are doing.

Tell her exactly what you told us. Truth is best.
