In general, an x8 card will work in an x4 slot and in general an AGP video card will be more efficient than a PCI video card.

Some AGP 8X cards are backward compatible with AGP 4X. Both ATI and Nvidia make excellent graphic cards. Standard PCI is slower than AGP. However the newer PCI Express is faster than AGP. You need to change motherboard for that.

ALL AGP cards are backwards compatible at least one step, so yes it will work, and yes it is better than PCI. Of course PCI Express is the best, but unfortunately not everyone has money to buy a new system or motherboard everytime a new technology comes out.

ok .... hmm lets see you have a agp 4x slot that will not work with a agp 8x which is better than a PCI because the 4x slot it has a small cut closer the the left side when u open your case but if you have a 8x the cut is closer to the right side ... so ther eis a difference u might need to upgrade your motherboard also... and PCI express are alot better... but those are like crossfire and SLI systems

Today,In Graphics Card , PCI means PCI EXPRESS Interface,
it is the latest and most efficent interface as the highest bandwidth of data transfer speed is offered by PCi Express technology.
Also, there is PCI interface, but its very old and outdated. Mo.Bo do not require PCI interface as most have on-board which are more powerful than PCI.

So it wont be more efficient than PCI Express interface.

Moreover you need to be sure that your PC has a PCI Express slot.

ANY AGP interface is better than PCI. Most 8x cards are backwards compatible with 4x slot, just make sure it says so and you're all set.
