The bible describes any sexual gratification outside of the confines of marriage to be a sin...so yes.
It comes to a heart issue more so. Jesus says that if we look upon someone with lust it's the same as the act itself because it's our heart that dictates the action. So if you're fantasizing about someone while masterbating it would be the same is if your were really with them.
Sexual temptation is a difficult thing to deal with. It leads one down a path of further and further depravity. I refer to masturbation as gateway sex. continuing down that path, what was once satisfying has lost it's appeal so you have to do more, or go deeper into the realm of porn or sex. you become more numb to actual intimacy. People say it's fun and feels good but what they don't tell you is the psychological and physical effects it can have. People who are so used to pleasing themselves have a hard time when it comes time to actually have sex. They can't enjoy the closeness because it doesn't feel the same as what they can produce and they usually too busy thinking of images and fantasies to enjoy the moment.
Be careful, you're not just playing with yourself, but with your emotions and the consequences can have lasting effects

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."
Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.
Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person and anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.
With love in Christ.
