I've just had real problems connecting to the internet. I could'nt even get my homepage up. It started with a 'unable to connect' popup box and even though I kept trying it would'nt work. Then the whole lot just dissapeared. Can anyone explain why? Was it just me?

shut off your firewall and try to connect. if you are using a router, whether your computer is plugged into it or not, unplug the cord on your cable modem that goes to the router and unplug that save cord from router. Wait 30 seconds and plug the cord back into modem and then wait another 10 seconds and plug the router back in. if you are not using a router and your computer is plugged directly into the modem, shut down computer and turn your modem off. then turn your modem back on and turn computer on as well. See if you can connect to the internet.

maybe ur ethernet card driver is currupted. try to look up into ur computer hardware profiles. find out if the ddriver is working correctly. if it is. try to setup ur internet connection again by using the windowsxp wizard. u can do dat by opening my network places and run the set up a home or small office network. and try to have an updated anti virus installed in ur computer.

Are you running a P2P program if so turn it off; then try again; if it then connects you know what your problem is, if this is not the problem then run a spyware program.
