It depends on how far you are from a six pack to start with, how old you are, and how dedicated you will be to it.
If you are obese, you can forget it. If you are overweight, it could take a couple years. If you are fit, then it could take anywhere from 1 to 3 months depending on your physique and diet.
If you are serious about it, pick up a book called "The Ultimate Book of Abs". It will give you a program to get your abs into some serious shape in no time. You will need to watch what you eat. So, no booze, so candy, dessert, complexe carbs (like bread, donuts, bagels, pasta), and very little red meat if any. You will need to eat a lot of veggies (raw ones are better), lots of fish, chicken here and there, lowfat yogurt, lots of snacks throught the day (like veggies and yogurt), and drink A LOT of water everyday.
Once you can create a big caloric deficit, you will burn the fat that stays around your gut, and the muscle will start to show.
Good luck

This is one of the worst things you could want to do to your body. An improper ab workout- especially if you do it too fast and too much and don't build your intensity slowly- can really mess up your back. Speed diets can mess up your metabolism, your heart and more. If you are smart and dedicated, you can get decent-looking abs in a few months, but if you have decided to just live for tomorrow and you don't care if you are unhealthy as long as you look good, then any stupid diet and any stupid AbSmasher will work. Choose wisely.

Why are guys so obsessed with having a "six pack"? Do you really think that women walk around looking at men saying, "well, he's hot but if he doesn't have a six pack under that shirt I don't want him." Whatever!

well your on the right track. you HAVE to diet to get a six-pack. sit-ups and leg lifts only built muscle, they don't burn fat. so you can do 200 sit-ups a day, nothing will show because you have layers of fat on top of it. so if you want a really nice six-pack, do a daily diet plan and stick to it! mine is: breakfest: oatmeal 10a.m: fruit snack or power bar lunch: weat bread with turkey sandwich 4p.m: fruit snack or power bar dinner: up to you, but make shure its healthy I like to do 200 sit-ups a day...break it down to 4 sets of 50 in the day. also some leg lifts for the lower "belly" abs. for the side, do side "sit-ups" don't eat after 9p.m and drink 8 glasses of water a day. in two weeks, I started to see my beer belly gone and actuall abs on the top, 2 more weeks and I will have the whole 6 set :)

do sit ups and crunches. there are tons of different kinds of crunches for lower and upper abs. i heard Britney Spears had said she did 1,000 crunches total through out her day. and if u remember she had a killer stomach b4 she met K-Fed. So do that. i think if u do it for amonth u will start to see a huge difference.
