Sometimes I struggle with this side of myself. I don't know it's that I want to be part of the lesbian community or that I just have issues because I'm trans. Does anyone else struggle with their straight side?

The label I usually use for myself is lesbian. I'd consider myself 80% lesbian and 20% straight.

I don't really care about labels or society. I've been a voluntary outcast from normal society years before I started to transition.

No. Maybe you are not really bisexual but questioning things right now and just picked the label because it is sometimes seen as middle ground.

I had that problem a few years ago. I broke up with my bf because I wasn't feeling anything when we kissed or hugged. It was like kissing or hugging a friend. I thought maybe I was just gay and the wanting to date men came from society forcing it on me. I messed around with a few people found a guy who was great in bed and makes me wet seeing him! I still mess with girls some times, and worry about abandoning that part of me, but I'm happy with him. If I had met the right girl at that time, I probably would be with her now.
My best advice is to go with what you feel is right. If you fall in love and he/she returns it, go with it. Don't worry about labels or what people think. We fight so hard to be ourselves and then put ourselves in little boxes. The LTBG community has to stop doing this. It causes us to fights between ourselves and we can't be as strong.

I struggled with both sides, for a long time, until I learnt to accept myself for who I was and not give two hoots about what others think. Now I feel I should like to satisfy both aspects, but recognise that in a society which defends monogamous relationships above all others, I and my prospective partners have probably been too conditioned to be able to handle a relationship with more than one other, concurrently.

Yes they do. It's easier to be straight. It's hard to be gay, and even harder to be trans. Western society is into labeling everything. Whatever and whoever you are, you're fine.
Be strong and live your life proudly!
