2 problems one easy one not so easy. check the battery first, most likely the cause. but these little cars hard a very, very expensive starter in them and the soleniod contacts would go bad. the contacts are available and can be replaced for about 100 bucks or so. i remember when these starters were on a world wide back and out for more than 90 days so i learned how to rebuild them, making my own contacts until the parts became available in the aftermarket. the parts are available from a specialty 12volt electrical shop, Accurate Electric in Springfield MO comes to mind. or if all else fails, park on a hill and learn how to jump start it ;)

Check battery voltage, you may have a bad battery, next check the starter/solenoid, might need to be replaced. Lastly check you ignition switch the contacts can get corroded or worn out.
Best advice if your strapped for money: Always park on a hill...lol

The clicking noise means that there is not enough power. Check battery connections and make sure your battery does not need to be replaced. It is possible it is the starter or the started solenoid but battery or poor connection to same sounds more likely
A mechanic can do tests to find out for sure just be sure he is trustworthy

If the radio and the headlights turn on, the battery is still in good shape. Check out the battery anyways for leakage.
Clicking noise, must be the starter/ignition switch!
Or are you fooling with us and your gas tank is on empty?

The clicking is the Solenoid going into the flywheel, most likely you are not getting enough power to the starter to spin the gear.
(blah blah blah)
It sounds like you need a new battery that will give you more consistent power at startup. 90% of electrical problems can be fixed with a solid battery.

I would start with the battery. If it starts doing the same thing after a couple of weeks or less I would say it's prolly the alternator, which is like a built in battery charger for your car to charge it while the car runs. It battery is easy to do it yourself, alternator is a bit more difficult.

Starter motor could have worn or damaged cog.
The clicking could indicate the solenoid which controls the starter motor.
Since it's a manual, you could always try parking on a hill and popping the clutch until you get it fixed.

The clicking noise is the clue... that is most likely going to be your starter solenoid going out. It is an easy self-help fix if you are good with engines. If not, time to take it to the shop. This is the warning. It will not get 'worse and worse' ... it will just stop working... and soon.

sound like the starter is gone. go under your car take a small hammer and hit the starter a few times see if it starts if not then you'll have to get it towed and fixed.
