We are finding dead flies all over our house. One minute they are buzzing around, and the next (next morning), they are on their backs, dead - without the need to have used fly killer! Does the saying 'dropping like flies' stem from reality - is this a seasonal occurrence?

Flies don't have a very long life span. They much live for 15 to 20 days.
The real questions is why do you have so many damn flies in your house?

Basically it is just a saying. I never heard of flies just dying out of no where but I do know that if you use a fly swatter they will drop fast. It could be something with the weather too.

Flies have a pretty short life... if they all came in at a similar time they may well just be dying at the same time.

Is it possible that the room you see them in is not air-conditioned? I think I would drop like a fly without my a/c

somewhere I hearsd flies only live like 3 days anyway.

Perhaps they are hot, hungry or just died naturally, don't flies just live like 2 days hardly... maybe 1...

that doesn't sound good. you should check all your vents etc carbon minoxide posioning may effect smaller creature's but will effect you too over a long period of time
