Well there is no guarantee that your spouse will be "The One" that you will like to spend the rest of your life with. Anything can happen in a marriage that has lasted for 20, 30 or 40 years down the road. The only time that you will know your spouse is "The One" is when he/she is buried 6 feet down. That is the time that you can proudly say aloud to the whole world "Lying 6 feet down there was "The One" that I spend the rest of my life with."

I cannot imagine the rest of my life without her in it. My heart goes into double-time when I see her. Hearing her voice makes my day. The thought of her makes me smile. I tell everyone about her. I think she is the most amazing woman on the planet. I feel all these things in spite of any faults that she has. I love her with every breathe that I take.

it is not a question of how you know. but making your spouse "the one" that you spend the rest ofyour life with. commitment and loyalty plays a huge part after the fun and games of courtship.

You will never know. Love is a journey. There's a lot of challenges ahead of you. And being with your love one is a learning process, everyday of your life you learn a lot of things about each other. And knowing hhim/her in a couple of years is not enough because some 20 years of his/ her life was spent by himself/herself without you.

You will know deep down in your heart that a life without them would be intolerable. If you can handle being seperated from them and in some way prefer your space then that person isn't your soul mate.

If you have to ask, then they are not "the one". But for the sake of argument.....you know that they are the one when you would sacrifice anything, no questions asked for that person, and they would do the same. You never have to ask them if they would do that, and you never have to tell them that you would either, it's something you both know and you are secure in it.
