to a certain extent yes. mineral spirits are petroleum based so they will eventually wither weaken or severly damage the bristles after a long time. best way is to simply clean the brush and then wrap it in a paper towel and leave it someplace where it can dry nirmally.

Depending on the quality of the brush to begin with, maybe. However, it's not a real good idea to leave a container with mineral spirits around open for that length of time, either. The best idea is to clean your brushes after you paint, not before you paint. (old painter's rules)

the brushes might bend, use a rubber band and band it to a paint stirrer. the mineral spirits might cause the metal thing to rust.
