You may need to clip both sides to keep them grounded.
I have to do both sides on mine. I have 30 chickens.
Get two people and a pair of siccors. Hold the bird against your body and strech out one wing. The long feathers at the lower portion of the wing are the flight feathers. Cut them in half or more. I cut them really short almost up to the wing that way I do not have to trim as often. Trim all the way across the width of the wing from tip to the body and do both sides that should help. They can still fly some but very little. Mine stay inside a 5 foot fence and can not get out of that after being clipped.
Good luck.

Spread the wings out. You will see the last layer of feathers are the longest. These are called the primary feathers. Clip half of the length off. How much length you take off determines how far they able to fly. Be sure to wrap the bird in a blanket while you do this so it does not hurt itself. If you do not want to do it by yourself for the first time, a vet would be happy to show you how.

Spread the wing out you can feel where the wing ends and the feathers begin. Trim one wing to the end of the wing be sure not to cut the rooster you can use regular scissors. There is no need to cut both they can't fly with one. I hope this helps.

You can clip them but I would take them to a vet if you are not sure..you could injure them.
